for the children of Israel to cross over into the promised land. Once they were across He spoke
to Joshua and told him to have men from each tribe go back into the middle of the river and carry
out on their shoulders a stone for each tribe. These stones were to be set up on their end as a
memorial to God of this event for their children.
In 1st Peter 2:5 believers in Christ Jesus are called living stones. Further down in verse 9 it says
"A people for God's own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called
you out of darkness into His marvelous light." Putting these two ideas together we might say that God
had picked each of us up out of the mud and carried us on His shoulders and set us up as living
memorials to Himself. How great is that? But lets go even further.
For the past couple of months the Lord has focused my time with Him on the reality of man being
made in His image. I don't know about you but the more I get to know my God the more I long to
be like Him. As I was thinking about myself being an eternal living stone the Holy Spirit brought to mind
Revelation 2:17 which says "...To him who overcomes...I will give him a white stone, and a new name written
on the stone which no one knows but he who receives it." This means that the definition of the name given
will only describe the person who receives it. It wont fit anyone else. I have been on a high ever since.
My Father is not only going to give me the desire of my heart to be like Him but I am going to be an
eternal reflection of His image in a way that is totally unique to me. That is what He made me for and
that is why I am so precious to Him.
Our God is a BIG God and for man to be in His image it take all of us put together to complete His image.
Wow! No wonder I adore you all so much.
