the Father of pity and mercy ,and the God of every
comfort, who comforts us in every trouble so that we
may also comfort those who are in darkness with the
comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
II Cor 1:3-4
I've just been through a difficult time over the death of
my sister's husband.. I loved Ed and am still
grieving his loss and, of course, for my sister who went
through hell these last few months. While Ed wasted
away to skin and bones because he could not eat any-
thing, the doctors could not diagnose his problem.
When finally, after 3 months they diagnosed him with
stomach cancer, he died 4 days later. This was such a
time of pain, anxiety and disappointment. Yet, all of
us were comforted from our Father, who loves us.
However, I had to admit I was full of whys.
Ed was a good man. I say that about very few people.
But he loved everyone. In 17 years of marriage, my
sister, Carole, never saw him angry at anyone. He
dearly loved children and young people. Why
should a man like that suffer so and die with years
yet to encourage and bless others. I don't know, but
we chose to trust in God's wisdom and love. We are
comforted to know he is in heaven.
God can comfort you in your trouble also and when
we are comforted we can comfort others!
Ed called Carole and her 2 daughters his Charley's
Angels. Whenever they came into his room, he would
say "There are my Charley's Angels. Last Sunday
Carole, and her daughters, went to Chicago for the day.
Walking on the street, a nice looking black man pointed
at them and said "There's Charley's Angels." The man
walked away and Carole turned to look at him. He
turned around, made direct eye contact with her, smiled
and disappeared. Godis amazing and awesome! He
sends his angels to comfort us. Hallelujah!!
Let us comfort and bless each other. I bless you
with a sense of safety and security in your world,
provided by the protecting presence, power, wisdom
and love of your Father; in the name of the Father,
Son and Holy Spirit.
Love
