I have on my desk at work a devotional of Charles Spurgeon's.
When I get a chance I love to read through it. This morning,
talking about the strength of the believer, he said, It lies in
the food it feeds on; for faith studies what the promise is".
In my years of walking with the Lord I have found that there
is no greater truth than this. Time and time again it has
been one of His promises that has carried me through
difficult situations and heart breaking events. I bless Him
for not leaving us to struggle through our daily lives without
the fullness of the knowledge of our hope that He has so
graciously supplied us with. Not only do we have His
promises to us in written form to search out, but we have
His precious Spirit that allows Him to speak directly to us.
It is grievous to me how I too often neglect these promises
and focus on my suffering rather than my glory. I need to
be constantly reminded of whose I am and all that it
entails. This morning I'm being carried by "Surely goodness
and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall
dwell in the house of the Lord forever!"
What promise is yours today?
Lovingly
beverlyn
