I want to briefly share with you a little from a teaching
that I heard a few weeks ago on the parable that
Christians have long labeled The Prodigal Son. Jesus,
however, said  "A man had two sons." It was also
pointed out that He was addressing the Pharisees at
this particular time and the point of the story was more
likely the second son. Since we all know this parable
almost by heart, I'll skip on to the conclusion and a
truth we may sometimes miss by our focus on the
wayward son. The prodigal had a hard time accepting
the total forgiveness and complete restoration to the
family because he knew he didn't deserve it. He was
more willing to become a servant. I think that we
have no trouble in finding his humbleness admirable
but his father simply said, You were gone and now
your back. The second son was indignant and angry
as he had faithfully served the interests of his father
all his life. Therefore he refused to join the family's
celebration. The father's reply to him was, You are
my son and all I have is and has always been yours.

Yesterday during worship as we sang two songs that
dealt with laying ourselves down so that we might
possess all our Father has for us, I was again reminded
that my Father God and all His kingdom is mine for the
taking. If I go my own way I am grieved and wept over.
As I serve faithfully, I am whole-heatedly appreciated.
BUT, there is nothing about me good or bad, faithful or
faithless that either disqualifies or makes me qualified to
belong in my Father's house. It is all mine if I want it
because I am simply His daughter. I'm blood.
