His Love's Security

My oldest daughter and her husband have been in Florida
for the past week waiting for the adoption of their new 
baby to be finalized and I have had the joy of keeping my
two grand-daughters. However, it has not been an easy
visit for them as they have been extremely homesick.
Even though they are putting forth their best efforts, the
underlying stress of being separated from the loving
source of their security is clearly visible. Nothing I can
do, not even my love, can make things feel right for them.


I was thinking this morning that perhaps what we
believers experience most is homesickness. We are
physically living on a cursed earth among cursed people
and though we try our best, we are often finding our-
selves in a state of stress. In spite of all we know and
believe we are still spiritually homesick. Though we
know better, we live as if it is our faith in and love for
God that will see us stably through when it is really His 
love for us.Jesus said "Come to me all you who are
weak and heavy laden and I will give you rest." I
believe what we need most is to spend more time
letting God simply hold us; much more time.
Isn't is wonderful that we don't have to search Him out,
that our loving source of security is ever present in us.
Let's be more conscious to remind ourselves and each
other to draw near to Him. After all, we can never know
the height, width and breadth of His love if we never
make ourselves still long enough to experience it. Are
you sad, depressed or just struggling in your spirit?
Be still.  Are you suffering or grieving? Be still. Are you
displeased maybe even hating yourself right now? Have
you found yourself in the midst of persecution?  Be still.
Our God is just at hand.I t's what His blood has paid for.

that we will be able to comfort those who are in
any affliction with the comfort with which we
ourselves are comforted by God."
