Deut.11:11-12.  The land which you enter to possess is a
land of hills and valleys which drinks water of the rain of
the heavens.  A land for which the Lord your God cares;
the eyes of the Lord your God are always upon it from
the beginning to the end of the year.
January is the month each year where we stand on the
edge of the unknown. The new year is before us, and
we must go forward to possess it.  We have no real idea
what new experiences or changes life will provide us or
just what needs will arise.  But the message is clear in the
scripture above. The Lord your  God cares for it.  His
eyes are upon it to the "ending of the year." It is a
time to remember again that all our needs are met in
God. His wells never run dry, and His fountains and
rivers are never stopped up. His mercies never fail
and His grace is sufficient. The land is full of hills
and valleys. There may be some rough spots. But the
end it is safe. Climbing the hills of life is what drives
us to His throne of grace. It is through these that we
grow and we learn how much God really loves us.
Our Lord cares also for the land ahead. We can't know
what 2011 will bring, but we can trust in Him who takes
our hand and leads the way.
Are you in financial need? Take His hand.
Are you feeling anxious or worried about the future?
Take His hand.  Are you discouraged or depressed?
Take His hand.  God loves us, wants the best for us and
desires to spend time with us.  He desires so much for us
to know, really know how much He loves us. Take His
hand. I'm taking it!  Let your joy in Him be your strength
and it will be a good and blessed new year.
