Daddy Keeps His Promises

My five year old daughter Allison lost her favorite pink soccer ball about a month ago while she and her sister Kaelyn were playing in the yard. By the time she came to get me the ball was no where to be found. We looked and looked for that ball. I assumed it had gone into the storm drain and we just couldn't see it. We finally gave up looking. When Allison's daddy came home she had him continue in the search with the same results. After he looked for 10 to 20 minutes for that ball he said, "I can't find the ball right now, but I promise that I will." Of course, I fussed at him for making a promise he most likely could not keep, but as usual he said nothing back to me.

Several weeks ago the girls and I were in the car and Allison reminded me of her daddy's promise to find her soccer ball. I began to explain to her that sometimes daddies promise things that they just can't make happen. The ball being found was out of his control. Allison did not like my reasoning behind this discussion and began letting me know that "Daddy always keeps his promises!" and that he would for sure find her ball. In my best interest I decided to change the subject and keep driving.

This afternoon I got a call from Gene telling me that he was coming home for lunch. I was totally surprised because he never comes home for lunch. Even more unusual was the fact that we usually go to the grocery store on Mondays, but I decided to go later since it was raining so hard. As I was in the kitchen preparing lunch for everyone I heard the door open and Allison squealing, “I knew you would find it daddy! I knew you would!!" Curious as to what he had found I went around the corner to the living room to see a nasty pink soccer ball in her daddy’s hands!!! I also saw three BIG smiles on their faces!! Daddy kept his promise!!

You may have dreams and visions of things God has promised you. You may feel they are lost in a hot and dry place never to be fulfilled. But my God reminded me today that He knows exactly the plans He has for me. He longs to give me my desires. He remembers His promises to me. He is just waiting to come to me on that most perfect day when I call upon His name and seek His face with all my heart.  His rain will wash me out of my hot and dry hiding place. He will bring me back. That day that I will be refreshed! I will continue to fulfill His plans and purposes for me!!  And Daddy will get all the glory!

This is what the LORD says: .... 11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity. .."  (Jeremiah 29:10-14)

When you feel your dreams and visions are in a  hot, dry and deserted place just remember to  call on the Name of the Lord with all your heart ! He is listening. The rain of His presence will come and bring you out at just the right time, just like the natural rain brought out Allison's soccer ball. You see, Daddy knows where you are and Daddy Always Keeps His Promises!!
