Constantly! How do I change the channel when my thinking is all messed up? Sometimes it feels as if the remote keeps jumping back to the previous channel even when I am trying to think right. It is definitely a constant battle to keep our thinking in the right direction. It affects everything we do.
As ladies it is especially difficult to keep our thinking right when our emotions are in high gear. Many times when our emotions kick in... our brains kick out. We begin reacting instead of thinking our way through to a response. The honest truth is correct thinking can actually help with the emotional issues. We can learn to think our way through instead of feeling our way through. All of our emotions are not bad, it is just when they are leading us instead of allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us.
Well, first we have to ask ourselves, “What is my weakness?” At that point we begin battle.
What kind of thinker am I? Am I negative, fearful, complaining, hateful, revengeful, or judgmental, just to name a few. From there you can begin to fight and win. It is not a one time battle. This is a life time battle. If for one moment you think you can win a couple of rounds and you have mastered it you are mistaken. The greatest battle field we have spiritually is in our minds. That battle must always be fought even though we can have great victory.
Romans 12:2 says that we must transform our minds. According to the first verse in that chapter he is not talking to the world but to us Christians. Born again believers who need to have their thinking changed. It is through the transformation of the mind that we will begin “to be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
2 Corinthians 10:3-5
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Learn to do this and walking in the Spirit becomes much easier. We will begin to hear his voice over our poor thinking and emotions.
(More thoughts later on the process.)
